The problem was that the restaurant where I worked as a waitress had closed its doors because of the condition of the economy. Actually, I had been trying to figure out how to best explain the situation to my daughter and why we needed to cancel the party. However, it was that day that I received a phone call from one of my acquaintances at the restaurant where I had worked. He asked me when my daughter would be celebrating her debut party and he instantly felt my hesitation. I could no longer help myself at that point. With tears in my eyes, I described to him our situation.
